Located in Bulleen, in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, this boutique apartment development makes the most of a site that offers close connection to the city in a semi-bushland setting.

Externally, the project draws design cues from the asymmetry and simplicity of the art moderne style. Wide white balconies emphasise the form’s horizontality, while a striking vertical fin detail ties into the vertical timber panelling and timber brise-soleil sunscreen that reaches over the balcony. A delicate system of cut-outs and voids lightens the form and creates framed views of the lush surrounds.

Internally, the project comprises ten two-bedroom apartments and three three-bedroom apartments. Generously scaled, they possess a restrained luxury and flexible spatial configurations. The muted palettes and high-quality materials give the interiors an effortless feel, transforming them into a neutral backdrop for residents’ own design style. Liveability was a central part of the brief, so each apartment has access to a sun-washed balcony or garden space.
