ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
A popular corner site in the leafy surrounds of Canterbury was explored as a potential townhouse complex with an activated shopfront. Careful and efficient floorplanning allowed for a greatly increased density on the high-amenity site whilst also providing for generous internal and external spaces for the luxurious dwellings. A raw but expressive pallette of rough board-formed concrete with glass blocks, glazed tiles and fine steel balustrades combine with extensive on-structure planting to create a thoroughly contemporary design informed by an eclectic collection of architectural references. The end result is a collection of high-end townhouses targeted at filling in the ‘missing middle’ for young families and downsizers alike in a desirable, established suburb of Melbourne.
