MIXED USE
ARCHITECTURE + DESIGN

This project explores the future of an underutilised site within Melbourne’s south‑west, positioned in the context of a rapidly evolving employment precinct.
Conceived as a mixed-use development, the proposal brings together commercial, health, education, and housing components within a flexible built form. The design tests how employment-generating uses and residential programs can be integrated to support both economic activity and long-term precinct growth.
A podium-based approach resolves parking above ground, allowing active commercial edges to address key frontages and strengthen the public interface. This supports a more engaged streetscape while maintaining efficiency in delivery and construction.

The program is centred around:

  • Health and medical tenancies
    Training and education spaces
    Commercial and employment uses
    Community-focused functions
    Affordable and social housing
    Key worker accommodation

Rather than a standalone residential outcome, the project is structured as an integrated precinct, linking housing including over 195 Apartments directly with employment, health, and learning environments. This approach responds to the increasing need for accessible accommodation tied to major employment sectors.

The built form is intentionally adaptable, establishing a framework that can evolve in scale, density, and mix over time. It is designed to respond to planning direction, market conditions, and future partnerships, while maintaining a strong urban presence.

The proposal repositions the site as a productive, mixed-use destination—supporting employment, contributing to housing supply, and strengthening the broader precinct as a place to work, learn, and live.
