Gordon’s Way

RESIDENTIAL

ARCHITECTURE + INTERIOR DESIGN

Nestled in the highly sought-after inner suburb of Albert Park, the Gorden’s Way project is a refined renovation and extension that thoughtfully blends existing house with contemporary design. Located just minutes from the Melbourne CBD and a short walk to the beach, Albert Park is known for its tree-lined streets, period homes, and village-like charm—making it the perfect setting for a project that celebrates both history and modern living.

The existing dwelling is rich in original detailing and architectural charm. The brief was to restore and enhance the original structure while creating a contemporary rear double storey addition that would accommodate modern lifestyle needs—without compromising the scale of the streetscape.

The design approach focused on preserving key heritage features at the front, while opening up the rear to allow more light, space, and flow. The transition between old and new is handled with care and precision, both in form and materiality. A minimalist rear extension complements the existing structure with clean lines and a subdued palette that allows the heritage façade to remain the focal point.

Inside, the interior design is carefully curated, with an emphasis on texture, material harmony, and tonal balance. Every finish was selected to create a cohesive and timeless aesthetic—soft neutral tones, natural timbers, and subtle stonework come together to evoke warmth and sophistication in a compact footprint. Despite its modest size, the home has been meticulously detailed, making efficient use of space while still feeling open and refined.

Gorden’s Way is a small-scale project that speaks volumes in design integrity. It’s a strong example of how sensitive heritage renovation, paired with thoughtful modern intervention, can result in a home that feels both timeless and perfectly suited to contemporary urban living.
