HOSPITALITY
Located in North-east Melbourne, an area defined by its topographic variation and expanding residential edge, Clifftop introduces a small-scale hospitality offering embedded within the hillside. The project comprises 8 compact, self-contained units, carefully positioned to follow the natural slope and optimise outward views.
The design adopts a modular approach, with each unit conceived as a discrete volume that can be efficiently constructed and placed with minimal disruption to the site. This arrangement establishes a clear spatial rhythm along the contour, balancing privacy with shared orientation towards the landscape. Each unit integrates essential living functions including kitchen, bathroom, living and sleeping areas within a compact footprint, prioritising clarity and usability.
Materially, the project is unified through the use of metal cladding, selected for its durability and ability to sit lightly against the terrain. The restrained palette reinforces a cohesive identity while allowing the surrounding environment to remain the primary focus.
Clifftop offers a considered response to site and brief, delivering a series of refined, compact dwellings that emphasise connection, outlook and quiet retreat within a natural setting.
