At Park St, a key process was exploring how careful architectural planning could extend the life and relevance of a home as family dynamics evolved.
Conceived as a contemporary response to its historic streetscape, the residence was designed with the capacity to adapt over time, supporting multi-generational living as needs shifted. Provisions within the planning allowed key spaces to evolve without compromising the overall architectural clarity.
The design adjustments were intentional and driven by practicality. The ground floor butler’s pantry was reconceived as a laundry to enhance everyday functionality and accessibility, while the former formal living room was reconfigured into a ground‑floor bedroom with a private ensuite, providing flexible accommodation for extended family. Upstairs, the study and the middle bedroom joinery were designed and installed to be fully interchangeable, allowing the spaces to adapt as needs evolve.
These considered strategies allowed the home to respond to changing household needs while maintaining the integrity of the original architectural intent.
Park St demonstrates how thoughtful residential design can support longevity, flexibility, and inclusivity within contemporary living.
