Stafford Street

MIXED USE

Located in the heart of Huntingdale, the Stafford Street project is a contemporary mixed-use development that integrates residential living with a vibrant, community-focused ground floor café. The project is designed not only to enhance the urban character of the area but also to provide affordable housing options in a growing and well-connected suburb.

Responding thoughtfully to its local context, the design aims to complement and engage with the surrounding architectural fabric. The building sits comfortably within the streetscape, with careful attention given to scale, materials, and public interface. Its street-level café adds energy and amenity to the neighbourhood, encouraging interaction and creating a natural transition between public and private spaces.
One of the defining features of the design is the arched entrance, which creates a welcoming gesture to both residents and visitors. This soft architectural form contrasts with the otherwise rectilinear building and adds a sense of arrival and openness. The arch also references traditional forms seen in older surrounding buildings, creating a subtle dialogue between the new development and its context.

The façade composition is anchored by a palette of grey brick, exposed concrete, and black metal railings, delivering a modern yet timeless aesthetic. These materials were chosen for their durability, low maintenance, and ability to age gracefully. In addition, circular framing elements are incorporated into the upper-level balconies and windows, cleverly used to frame views and bring a sense of playfulness and visual interest to the otherwise minimalist façade.

Internally, the apartments are efficiently planned to maximise space, natural light, and ventilation—delivering high-quality yet affordable homes for a diverse range of occupants.

The Stafford St development is a strong example of how thoughtful design can contribute to urban regeneration, delivering density, amenity, and architectural quality to a growing neighbourhood.
