MIXED USE
Located in Melbourne’s north west, an area experiencing ongoing growth and urban transition, The Equestrian is a mixed-use project that reimagines an existing structure into a contemporary community destination. The development brings together hospitality, recreation, and event space within a cohesive and adaptable framework.
The design prioritises reuse, retaining the existing built form while introducing a clear and legible spatial structure. Internally, a bar and mini golf program anchor the building, establishing an active and social core. This is extended outward through a series of connected external zones, including undercover seating and an open stage area, supporting both everyday use and larger gatherings. The planning allows for flexibility, enabling multiple uses to operate simultaneously while maintaining clarity of movement and connection.
Materiality is grounded and deliberate. Outdoor seating is formed in concrete render, softened by timber elements that introduce warmth and human scale. Dark charcoal framing defines the stage and surrounding structures, creating a consistent and robust visual language. Internally, white metal cladding wraps the bar and mini golf areas, providing a clean, durable surface that reinforces the project’s contemporary character.
The Equestrian establishes a balanced and accessible environment. A place for gathering, interaction, and shared experience, embedded within the evolving fabric of Melbourne’s north west.
