INTERIOR
Located at King Island Airport, a place defined by rugged coastlines and a distinct culinary identity, this interior project reinterprets the character of the island through a refined and immersive bar environment.
The design is anchored in atmosphere and clarity. Spatial planning is deliberate, organising the bar into a series of layered zones that support both social interaction and quieter retreat. Seating is varied and carefully positioned, allowing flexibility across different times of day while maintaining a consistent sense of intimacy. Circulation is intuitive, ensuring ease of movement within a compact footprint.
Materiality shapes the experience. A palette of dark, textured finishes establishes a warm and grounded base, responding to the raw qualities of the island landscape. Timber, stone and tactile surfaces are used to introduce depth and rhythm, while moments of colour are applied with restraint to create contrast and visual focus. This balance between richness and control reinforces a calm and cohesive interior language.
Lighting is soft and considered, enhancing texture and defining zones without overpowering the space. Reflections and shadow contribute to a layered atmosphere, creating a sense of enclosure suited to a transitional environment within the airport setting.
Furniture selection draws on classic forms, refined through contemporary detailing to ensure comfort and durability. Each element contributes to a cohesive and enduring spatial identity aligned with the brand.
The project delivers a composed and welcoming bar environment that balances opulence with restraint. It offers a grounded, memorable experience for travellers, defined by material clarity, spatial rhythm and a strong connection to place.
